Carolee A. “Carrie” King, JD
Legal and Regulatory Issues Related to the DMT

Carolee “Carrie” King is senior vice president and general counsel for The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Carrie’s expertise includes health care and regulatory law, hospital compliance, fraud and abuse, medical liability, physician practice and clinical research. In her role as general counsel, she oversees the Department of Legal Affairs, Office of International Affairs, Office of Institutional Compliance, Records Management, Office of Technology Transfer, Department of Internal Investigations, and IS-Security and serves on the President’s Executive Committee. Carrie is a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law.

In her past position as vice president and chief compliance officer for The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, she was responsible for all aspects of institutional and health care compliance and served as an adviser on general health law matters. Prior to this, she served as an attorney in the health law section for the Office of General Counsel at The University of Texas System. She has worked as in-house counsel for an insurance company and as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

She resides with her daughter in Galveston.
